First beach cleanup of 2022 at Maritime Heritage Park

January 4, 2022 @ 10:00 am 12:00 pm

The solution to pollution is a New Year’s resolution… to attend our regular beach cleanups!

To combat plastic pollution in the Salish Sea, RE Sources hosts beach cleanups — as well as cleanups along rivers and lakes — throughout Whatcom and Skagit counties, providing cleanup equipment and a place to connect with like-minded community members.

We’re partnering with Surfrider Foundation Northwest Straits for our first cleanup of the year on Tuesday, January 4th from 10:00am to 12:00pm at Maritime Heritage Park in Bellingham. Bagels will be provided be The Bagelry!

Plastic pollution is a concern for water quality and wildlife everywhere, and has even been discovered in drinking water and table salt worldwide. Recent research found that Pacific Ocean juvenile fish have been consuming microplastic particles in their first days of life, with not-yet understood health consequences.

RSVP not required, but helps us get an idea of how many people to expect. We’ll send you an email with the details so you have them on hand. Thank you for keeping waterways clean!
