Beach cleanup for Orca Month + World Oceans Day

June 8, 2022 @ 4:00 pm 6:00 pm

RSVP (suggested)

Every June is Orca Month. If you’ve ever been awed by one of these incredible cetaceans, help keep their habitat (and the beaches we love to visit) clean!

Join us on Wednesday, June 8th from 4–6 p.m. at Semiahmoo Park (9261 Semiahmoo Pkwy, Blaine. Here’s a map). Bagels will be provided by The Bagelry. We provide cleanup supplies, just dress for the weather.

To combat plastic pollution in the Salish Sea, we host beach cleanups — as well as cleanups along rivers and lakes — throughout Whatcom and Skagit counties, providing cleanup equipment and a place to connect with like-minded community members.

Plastic pollution is a concern for water quality and wildlife everywhere, and has even been discovered in drinking water and table salt worldwide. Recent research found that Pacific Ocean juvenile fish have been consuming microplastic particles in their first days of life, with not-yet understood health consequences. See our full list of 2022 monthly cleanups and mark your calendar!

RSVP not required, but helps us get an idea of how many people to expect. Thank you for keeping waterways clean!
