Beach cleanup for Earth Day!

April 22, 2022 @ 12:00 pm 2:00 pm

RSVP (suggested)

Earth Day is coming up and you want to make a difference. Grab a trash grabber and meet us at the beach! To combat plastic pollution in the Salish Sea, RE Sources hosts beach cleanups — as well as cleanups along rivers and lakes — throughout Whatcom and Skagit counties, providing cleanup equipment and a place to connect with like-minded community members.

Join us on Earth Day, Friday April 22nd from 12:00–2:00pm at Burch Bay State Park (7290 Birch Bay Dr, Blaine, across street from BP Heron Center) Bagels will be provided by The Bagelry! We provide cleanup supplies, just dress for the weather.

Plastic pollution is a concern for water quality and wildlife everywhere, and has even been discovered in drinking water and table salt worldwide. Recent research found that Pacific Ocean juvenile fish have been consuming microplastic particles in their first days of life, with not-yet understood health consequences.

RSVP not required, but helps us get an idea of how many people to expect. Thank you for keeping waterways clean!
