HAVING YOUR VOICE HEARD IN THE STATE LEGISLATURE, MADE EASY! SIGN UP FOR LEGISLATIVE UPDATES

About once per week during the 2025 legislative session (January through April), we send out a quick email update what’s happening with key environmental bills, plus quick actions you can take to push urgent policies make it across the finish line. State laws can make a big difference in your community, while also setting examples for more states to follow. Whatcom county: Urge Executive Sidhu to call for pause on mature forest logging

Thank Executive Satpal Sidhu for his leadership in taking steps to strengthen the County’s role in co-management of state forest lands, and urge him to ask that DNR pause timber sales containing mature forest while two planning groups complete their recommendations.

cascade natural gas customers: urge gas utility to cut ties with costly GTN Xpress expansion

For two years, communities across the Northwest have been fighting a proposed fracked gas expansion project from TC Energy called GTN XPress. The gas pipeline spans over 1,300 miles through Oregon, Washington and Idaho.

Not only is GTN XPress a backwards plan threatening the health, safety, and climate of the Northwest, but the expansion imposes a considerable burden on ratepayers — specifically Cascade Natural Gas customers.

Solidarity Action: Call for a Coast Salish Longhouse at Xwotqwem (Whatcom Creek)

Ecological and cultural healing in the central Salish Sea region are intertwined. Support the call by Lummi leaders with Whiteswan Environmental to revive a Coast Salish longhouse at Xwotqwem (Whatcom Creek). This longhouse will create and provide culturally safe places for Indigenous communities to heal the Native and non-Native divide, and to teach history, culture, governance, and language to the next generations.

Take the 100% Northwest Pledge

Our 100% Northwest campaign’s main goal is to transition Northwest Washington to a 100% clean energy economy by 2030 by advocating for smart policies, informing residents about practical clean energy solutions and widening community outreach. It just needs people-power!

Attend a beach cleanup

To combat plastic pollution in the Salish Sea, RE Sources regularly hosts beach cleanups — as well as cleanups along rivers and lakes — throughout Whatcom and Skagit counties, providing cleanup equipment and a place to connect with like-minded community members.
