The Treoil cleanup site is a 3.5 acre piece of property that is located 2 miles east of the Strait of Georgia. It once contained toxic, corrosive, and flammable substances along with over 300,000 gallons of oily waste that came from the distillation of tall oil and other industrial practices. Emergency cleanup actions have removed the majority of the contamination on the site — final steps are in the works to complete the cleanup process to ensure it does not harm people or the environment. Now, the Washington Department of Ecology has released the site’s Remedial Investigation and Feasibility Study, and you’re invited to review and comment on them!
